Both of Veeda’s units in the UK and India
have performed a number of studies in
diabetic patient populations. Veeda is
familiar with a wide range of diabetology
studies including euglycaemic and
hyperglycaemic glucose clamping and assays
such as insulin and glucagon, DPP inhibition
and other enzymatic assays.
Access to Diabetic
Patients
Both our UK and Indian units have excellent
access to diabetic patients. In the UK,
Diabetes is treated primarily by family
doctors at local surgeries. Veeda UK has
established a general practitioner network
which almost 50,000 patients. In addition,
we work closely with a consultant
diabetologist who not only provides patient
referrals but can also help with scientific
aspects of study design and conduct. Veeda
currently has a database of more than 400
type II diabetics and 50 Type I (insulin
dependent, c-peptide negative).
In India, diabetes care is provided mainly
through the hospital system. The team at
Veeda works closely with consultants and
doctors to familiarise them with our trials
and to interest them in working with us. As
well as meetings we organise training
courses (e.g. GCP training), symposia and
technical workshops.
Glucose
Clamping
Veeda was the first unit in India to
establish a glucose clamp model and we have
conducted over 150 successful euglycaemic
and hyperglycaemic clamps, with and without
test meals. Our unit in India can conduct up
to 8 clamps in a day which means that we can
offer a very fast turnaround for large clamp
studies.
Support
Services
As well as our main clinical units, Veeda
has a wide range of services which help to
support our work in the diabetes area. Our
bioanalytical laboratory has validated
assays for many of the most common
anti-diabetic drugs and can offer rapid
turnaround of PK samples.
